Property Management Officer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

Are you starting off or looking for a change in direction?  Are you interested in a career that combines a focus on people and one of their most fundamental needs, a quality home? If so, a career with a leading London Housing Association could be right for you. Notting Hill Genesis are looking for people with a strong work ethic and customer focus to train as Property Management Officers (PMO).

As a PMO you will be the main point of contact for your patch of homeowners across our portfolio of exciting developments. These range from Victorian street properties to modern purpose built multi-tenure developments with excellent on-site facilities that are home to hundreds of residents. You will deal with their queries and provide excellent levels of customer service by maintaining regular contact with them. At heart, we are a people business and providing the best levels of customer service is really important to us.

Joining us as a PMO will give you an amazing breadth of knowledge in buildings and property management. You will learn skills ranging from budgeting and finance to maintenance and repairs. We will set you up to take your first steps in your property management career and support you with industry recognised qualifications and an in-house training programme. With many of our PMOs moving into senior positions within our service and others following paths into asset management, compliance and development, we think that the PMO role is a great opportunity for the right person.

Main Responsibility

As a PMO you will be responsible for a broad range of property management disciplines.  Some of your regular tasks will include property inspections, raising repairs, setting service charge budgets, producing service charge accounts and having responsibility for income collection. This will all be backed up by your excellent communication skills, which we help you build and hone. You need to be organised, thorough and resilient and if you are, the role can be hugely rewarding.

Although you will be the main point of contact for your residents and have a lot of responsibility, you won’t be on your own. You will be part of a leasehold team overseen by a Leasehold Manager with the support of a Senior PMO.  You will also get close support from the wider Leasehold Service as well as specialist teams that assist in ensuring our residents are safe and comfortable in their homes.

The Ideal Candidate

Our PMOs have joined us from many different industries with some coming from the hospitality or retail sectors and others having recently graduated or left college.  Regardless of where you currently work, if you can bring an enthusiasm to learn and combine that with a strong customer focus, then a PMO role may well be for you.

You do not need any property management or housing experience to start your career as a PMO. You should be an effective communicator and good with numbers. You should be organised, patient, resilient and have the ability to learn quickly.

We have a number vacancies across our Hammersmith and King’s Cross office.

In return we offer:

  • Excellent annual leave allowance and flexible working opportunities (qualifying period may apply)
  • Generous pension scheme

About the Company

Notting Hill Genesis is now one of the largest housing associations in London and the south east. We own and manage more than 66,000 homes and employ around 2,000 staff. We provide homes across a range of tenures and are committed to continuing to deliver housing that is affordable to all. Our roots reach back to the 1960s when our legacy organisations were established by local people who shared a similar vision – to house west London’s working poor, providing them a home from which to build themselves and their families a secure future.

Our people

We value our people and both respect and celebrate their differences. We’re proud to say that our colleagues come from different backgrounds, with varied outlooks and are from all over the world. We encourage and are committed to diversity. We know that when people with varied experiences and unique points of view come together, it makes us a stronger organisation and more able to help the wide range of residents that we serve. We want all our colleagues to bring their full selves to work in a culture and environment based on respect and fairness, regardless of role, background or ability.

Our pledges

We are proud signatories of the G15 group’s diversity pledge to encourage more diversity in the boardroom and at senior level.  The pledge on Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) diversity commits NHG to reflect the ethnic diversity of the communities we work in at all levels and particularly at senior managerial, leadership and board levels.

We have under-representation of BAME colleagues at this level and are keen to fill this gap. We welcome applications from everyone. For this role, we especially encourage BAME candidates to join us and be part of an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity, equality of opportunity and provides a place for you to grow your career.

We are also a Stonewall Diversity Champion, a Disability Confident employer and have signed up to Harry’s Pledge. We actively monitor the diversity of our workforce and strive to show equal representation throughout all levels of the organisation.
