Job Introduction
What you’ll do
As a Building Safety Manager, you will collaborate with teams across Notting Hill Genesis to enhance the safety of our homes and help ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Supporting the Senior Building Safety Manager, you will act as the named Building Safety Manager for an assigned portfolio of high-rise residential buildings. You will help maintain building safety cases, support duty holder responsibilities and provide assurance that the safety management system for your allocated buildings is effective.
You will work closely with residents, internal teams, the Building Safety Regulator and other regulatory and enforcement bodies. You will also support the accountable person with building registration, Building Assessment Certificate applications and Mandatory Occurrence Reporting.
How you’ll do it
- Support work to ensure NHG meets relevant building safety and fire safety legislative requirements, alongside its health and safety policies, procedures and financial regulations.
- Support the accountable person with Building Assessment Certificate applications, building safety case maintenance, building registration and Mandatory Occurrence Reporting.
- Act as the named Building Safety Manager for assigned high-rise buildings, liaising with the Building Safety Regulator and responding to requests for information.
- Own the resident engagement strategy for the buildings in your portfolio, acting as an escalation point for building safety concerns and providing internal advice on related complaints.
- Maintain the accuracy of building safety case reports, ensuring changes, risks, opportunities and relevant interdependencies are identified and reflected.
- Conduct assurance checks in accordance with the Building Safety Assurance Schedule, including compliance checks, competency checks and on-site inspections.
- Build effective relationships with regulatory and enforcement bodies, supporting the management of regulatory judgements and maintaining an understanding of good practice.
- Ensure Golden Thread information relating to each building safety case is clearly identifiable, demonstrable and accessible, identifying and escalating information gaps where necessary.

The ideal Building Safety Manager will understand safety and risk within complex residential buildings and be confident managing investigations and competing cases under time pressure. You will be able to interpret technical information and communicate clearly with residents, regulators and other stakeholders
Essential:
- Working understanding of building inspections, construction, fire strategies, risk assessment, Mandatory Occurrence Reporting (MOR), and building control applications.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and reports.
- Proven experience proactively investigating and managing a caseload under time pressure.
- Experience in auditing and risk assessing within the built environment.
- Demonstrable work experience with a regulatory enforcement body in relation to complex residential buildings
Qualifications:
- Level 6Diploma in Building Safety Management and CIOB membership
Open to consider candidates with the following qualifications willing to work towards the CIOB:- NEBOSH Fire or membership of Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or a similar fire safety body
- HND in construction
- Level 4 or above FRA qualification
- Membership of Institute of Structural Engineers
- Membership of Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE)
- NEBOSH Fire or membership of Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or a similar fire safety body
