The NHG Planned Investment Directorate is passionate about delivering the highest quality planned maintenance service which puts value for money, digital efficiency and great resident experience at the heart of everything we do.
We’re are looking for a high calibre Building Surveyor to join our centralised Building Projects Team in London on a one-year fixed term basis.
Main Responsibility
You’ll provide a professional building consultancy service, working with a diverse range of residential properties in a dynamic area. This is a varied role, you’ll be out and about visiting properties to assess programmes of works and supervising contractors to ensure that works are completed on time, on budget and to the highest quality.
You will be required to carry out full building surveys and produce high quality reports that are complaint with the Civil Procedure Rules and work closely with our Legal Case Workers in response to Legal Disrepair claims. You will be expected to put together comprehensive schedule of works in addition to your reports. You will also be required to provide quality assurance of works in difficult Building Projects Team where we may be carrying out both small and large refurbishment projects that have undergone difficulties in the past. Working with the clients in our front-line housing teams. As well as our Senior Building Surveyor, you will work with our Senior Project Manager and Clerk of Works to provide technical support and advice.
Expect to be challenged. You’ll work in a changing environment and so we need a flexible thinker with the ability to solve the complex problems associated with building surveying. You’ll need to use your skills in surveying, project management & IT to deliver complex and responsive repairs and projects. As a technical expert, you’ll be trusted to make sound recommendations and manage repairs across a range of residential buildings which vary in style and age.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll be a confident communicator who is comfortable explaining recommendations to colleagues and residents verbally and in detailed technical reports with regards to Legal Disrepair and difficult buildings. You’ll collaborate within your team, with colleagues right across our organisation, and with external third parties to ensure we deliver a high-quality service for our residents at the best value, so we can invest further in our portfolio.
Strong people skills are essential. As well as working with colleagues in different departments and external third parties, you’ll be interacting with residents, often as the face of NHG, when assessing issues and visiting their property. A good knowledge of IT systems will be more important as we change and develop how we work in this digital age.
