Job Introduction
What you’ll do
You will act as a key liaison between the Finance team and the various business units within the Group to manage all fixed asset movements and fixed asset financial reporting. You will offer recommendations to help the Asset & Sustainability and Sales divisions achieve their goals.
As a senior member of the Finance team, you will drive a customer centric ethos and continuous improvement culture within our Finance team, ensuring all finance services deliver the best outcomes for our residents
How you’ll do it
- Lead on all elements of fixed asset accounting, you will be seen as a key subject matter expert, providing guidance and challenge as part of the ongoing transformation initiatives.
- Execute appropriate financial controls and ensure that information which is recorded and reported is timely, accurate, and in line with the Group’s accounting policies.
- Offer strategic and operational guidance to facilitate the management of emerging opportunities and challenges.
- Provide support to the Head of Capital and Asset Reporting in overseeing the financial implications of the Group's CAPEX and sales programmes.
- Maintain accurate data, managing large complex data sets on excel and in-house systems
- Develop a programme for collecting, updating, maintaining, and managing the Group’s Fixed Asset Register
- Ensure that capital grant-funded assets adhere to grant terms, conditions and requirements
- Develop and implement standards and processes to identify and collect asset attribute data throughout the asset life cycle
- Manage and mentor the assistant capital accountant fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

If not already qualified, there may be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification.
In addition to this you will need:
- Hold a CCAB recognised accounting qualification with supporting CPD.
- Extensive experience of working in a complex capital accounting environment, dealing with inventory, fixed assets and investments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse audience engagement; work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strategic thinking ability; capable of analysing complex data to develop solutions and make data driven decisions
- Experience influencing operational activities at both tactical and strategic levels across all areas of the business
- Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of D365 and Power BI preferred
- Ability to provide expert technical accounting advice with good knowledge of FRS and ideally exposure to SORP and related government legislation
- Uphold ethical principles including integrity, objectivity, professional competence, confidentiality, and professional behaviour
