Location: Bruce Kenrick House, Kings Cross London, N1 9FL

Salary: £41,204 to £45,783 per annum for 35 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

We’re looking for a high calibre Clerk of Works to join our planned maintenance team in London on a permanent basis.

Main Responsibility

As a Clerk of Works you will be responsible for providing a professional service on a £3-5m planned maintenance program primarily on our Housing stock.

This involves all areas of the building under the Landlord obligations including, but not limited to, external parts of the building (roofs, windows, façade etc), kitchens and bathrooms and internal communal areas.

Your work will be crucial in supporting the delivery of planned maintenance work to customers in their homes. Working with the clients in our front-line housing teams, you’ll work with our Project Managers and Building Surveyors to provide professional inspections advice. Your quality inspections and monitoring of our planned programmes will help us make sure we’re getting works right first time.

You'll use your knowledge and experience to review technical and material specifications, inspect works on site to ensure they are consistent with contract requirements, attend site inspections at regular intervals, and inspect and report as to the suitability of works to be undertaken. Ensure that standards of work and the materials supplied by contractors are as specified in accordance with the contract information. Snag the works and agree complete allowing handover stage to commence. Assist with ad-hoc duties where required.

The Ideal Candidate

Expect to be challenged. You’ll work in a changing environment, so we need a flexible thinker with the ability to solve the complex problems associated with a Quality Inspector role. As one of our technical experts, you’ll be trusted to make sound recommendations across a range of residential buildings which vary in style, design, and age.

You’ll be a confident communicator who is comfortable explaining recommendations to colleagues and residents verbally and in technical reports. You’ll collaborate within your team, with colleagues in our Leasehold & Care & Support teams and with external third parties – including contractors and cost consultants to ensure we deliver a high-quality service for our residents at the best value, so we can invest further in our portfolio.

Strong people skills are essential. As well as working with colleagues in different departments and external third parties, you’ll be interacting with residents as the face of NHG, when assessing issues and visiting their property.

A good knowledge of IT systems will be more important as we change and develop how we work in this digital age.
