What you’ll do
As a Commercial Properties Officer, you’ll play a key role in managing and shaping the commercial spaces within our estates. These spaces are more than just ground-floor units—they are vital to creating vibrant, inclusive communities where people can thrive. You’ll deliver a professional and compliant property management service, balancing placemaking priorities with commercial viability to generate income that supports housing and community programmes.
How you’ll do it
- Manage commercial properties to a high standard, ensuring compliance and excellent service for all tenants.
- Monitor arrears, collection rates, and property inspections to meet financial and service KPIs.
- Handle rent and service charge billing, lease renewals, and rent reviews promptly and accurately.
- Build strong relationships with tenants, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Building Safety, and Fire Safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of leases, tenancies, and property details to ensure continuity of service.
- Review supplier contracts and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Manage repairs, cyclical works, and tenant fit-outs, liaising with surveyors and contractors as needed.
- Develop strategies to let or sell commercial units, maximising value while complementing residential uses.
- Support initiatives that integrate commercial spaces into thriving communities and promote creative uses.
The ideal candidate

Pending confirmation of legislative changes, this role may require a qualification to demonstrate competence. If not already qualified, there may be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification.
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent experience in property management, real estate, or a related field.
- Experience in commercial and residential property management within housing or mixed-use environments.
- Strong understanding of commercial property legislation and landlord/tenant regulations.
- Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service and manage complex projects.
- Intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Desirable:
- Professional membership (e.g., RICS)
Hybrid arrangements – at least two days a week in our schemes, and at least two days in an office working with others. Depending on work and interactions required working from home may be possible one day a week.
