This is a newly created role which gives you the opportunity to work within a directorate dedicated to delivering works and services for planned investment, decarbonisation, compliance, building safety and new build developments across our 67,000 homes and our future new build developments. 

You will have the opportunity to shape projects that vary from large scale new build and regeneration projects through to maintaining our existing homes that vary from Victorian properties to recently build purpose built flats.

To succeed in this role, you will need to develop and maintain effective relationships with colleagues within the directorate, across our business and across the whole industry. 

You’ll work closely with our central procurement team to manage the Homes directorates procurement programme, providing strategic guidance and insights on how best to set up and manage supply chains, supporting them to ensure that we deliver value for money on all contracts we procure, helping over 130,000 Londoners receive a fantastic service.

Role Responsibilities

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Homes Directorate effectively procure and onboard their supply chain, undertaking options appraisals and influencing senior leaders on how best to set up future contracts. 

You will do this by working with colleagues to analyse existing performance data and competency across the industry, creating and managing a process to ensure best practice on procurement is consistently applied across the department and  engaging with suppliers ensuring they are prepared for upcoming opportunities. We believe we work best when we work together, so for at least three days a week you'll work from our Kings Cross office or attend site, supplier offices or one of our other offices.

We’re looking for someone who knows what good looks like in terms of the delivering these services but wants to achieve more than this. 

The successful candidate will need an understanding of current and recent procurement regulation as well as experience of using data to provide insight to influence stakeholders of all levels. 

Pending confirmation of legislative changes, this role may require a qualification to demonstrate competence. If not already qualified, there may be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification

Essentials:

  • A relevant construction management, commercial management or procurement related qualification at minimum of level 4 (Higher National Certificate) or equivalent experience
  • Experience of public sector Procurement and understanding of Public Contract Regulations and Procurement Act
  • Experience of contractor, stakeholder and resident relationship management 
  • Knowledge of contracts and supply chain arrangements in property development and construction.
