Do you want to work for a leading and independent social enterprise in London?
NHG is one of the leading Housing Associations in London. We’re a naturally ambitious organisation – a social business with real commercial sense. We work in the community, providing homes for lower-income households across London and the South East. We are inspired by the impact we can have and are passionate about creating a better London.
The Governance Team is key to making our vision a reality and we’re offering a great opportunity for a Head of Governance to join us and help us make sure that the organisation has a robust and compliant governance framework. As a major property developer and significant social enterprise it is key that the governance team does more than ensure compliance – we work across the business to embed accountable, clearly understood decision making.
Main Responsibility
You’ll be the operational lead working directly with the Director of Governance, and be accountable for the provision of excellent, innovative governance services to meet legal, constitution and regulatory requirements. These support sound business decision making to advance our social purpose. You will ensure board and committee members receive the support necessary for them to discharge their duties.
To do this you will establish policies and procedures and create relationships to support our aims. You will ensure all of the Group entity statutory records are compliant, provide a full Company Secretarial service to our Group Board and Committees and oversee provision of high-quality support to our non-executive Directors and Committee members.
As a key member of the Governance team, you’ll have a thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory framework within which Notting Hill Genesis operates.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be an experienced leader; confident in your ability and passionate about making an impact, bringing in creative ideas and executing them.
To succeed you will have excellent technical knowledge and expertise and the drive and commitment to deliver. You will work closely with all Board and Executive Team members and have the gravitas and confidence to influence others at this level. You will be highly organised, passionate about quality and customer service, and have great communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to build strong relationships across the organisation and externally. Most important however, will be your understanding and affinity with our organisational aims and values.
The role is high profile and carries a high degree of responsibility and independence. If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you.
Benefits
In return we offer:
- Excellent annual leave allowance and flexible working opportunities (qualifying period may apply)
- Generous pension scheme
- Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay - we offer enhanced maternity and adoption pay in addition to statutory entitlements (qualifying period may apply)
- Employee assistance - free confidential advice and counselling services provided by independent specialist organisations
- Health cash plan
- Staff discounts - we give our staff access to discounts at hundreds of major retailers, gyms, restaurants, entertainment, days out, insurance and much more
- Interest free loans: season ticket loan, tenancy deposit loan and training loan
- Cycle to work scheme

About the Company
Notting Hill Genesis is now one of the largest housing associations in London and the south east. We own and manage more than 66,000 homes and employ around 2,000 staff. We provide homes across a range of tenures and are committed to continuing to deliver housing that is affordable to all. Our roots reach back to the 1960s when our legacy organisations were established by local people who shared a similar vision – to house west London’s working poor, providing them a home from which to build themselves and their families a secure future.
Our people
We value our people and both respect and celebrate their differences. We’re proud to say that our colleagues come from different backgrounds, with varied outlooks and are from all over the world. We encourage and are committed to diversity. We know that when people with varied experiences and unique points of view come together, it makes us a stronger organisation and more able to help the wide range of residents that we serve. We want all our colleagues to bring their full selves to work in a culture and environment based on respect and fairness, regardless of role, background or ability.
