What you’ll do
As Health & Safety Specialist, you will provide strategic leadership, professional assurance and expert advice to ensure Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) meets its legal, regulatory and governance obligations in relation to health, safety and wellbeing.
Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening our safety culture across the organisation. You’ll lead the development and continuous improvement of our Health & Safety Policy and Management System, ensuring alignment with NHG’s governance, risk and assurance frameworks.
You will oversee inspections, investigations, statutory reporting and performance analysis — providing senior leaders with clear, insight-led advice that drives informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
As a trusted expert and leader, you will support and develop Health & Safety Advisers while championing a proactive, learning-oriented safety culture across NHG.
How you’ll do it
- Provide strategic leadership on health, safety and wellbeing, embedding a positive and proactive safety culture across NHG.
- Lead the design, review and continuous improvement of health & safety policies, procedures and management systems, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
- Oversee inspections, assurance activity and compliance monitoring, ensuring learning and improvement are embedded.
- Lead high-risk and significant incident investigations, ensuring appropriate reporting, root cause analysis and organisational learning.
- Act as competent lead for statutory reporting requirements including RIDDOR and Mandatory Occurrence Reporting.
- Provide expert advice and assurance to senior leaders, operational managers and governance forums on complex or high-risk matters.
- Support the collation, analysis and reporting of health and safety performance data for Executive Team, Board and Leadership Groups.
- Work collaboratively with HR and Business Services to embed wellbeing initiatives, training and reasonable adjustments across the organisation.
- Maintain effective engagement with regulators and enforcing authorities as required.
- Deputise for the Head of Health & Safety when necessary.

Pending confirmation of legislative changes, this role may require a qualification to demonstrate competence. If not already qualified, there may be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification.
Essential:
- NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent qualification.
- IOSH membership (or working towards Chartered status).
- At least five years’ experience within a health and safety team in housing, real estate or a similarly regulated environment.
- Experience of leading or managing health and safety professionals.
- Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Experience of incident investigation, regulatory engagement and statutory reporting.
- Proven ability to provide expert advice and assurance to senior leaders and operational teams.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to present complex or sensitive information clearly.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with sound professional judgement in high-risk situations.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight timescales.
