What you’ll do
Notting Hill Genesis, one of London’s largest housing associations, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our dynamic business development team. As a Legal Assistant, you'll manage tenancy breach cases and drive effective rent recovery solutions. In this pivotal role, you’ll directly support our vision of creating quality homes by handling possession cases for lease expiry and escalated arrears, always placing residents at the heart of decision-making. You’ll empower operational teams through legal guidance while safeguarding tenancy sustainment across our housing portfolio.
How you’ll do it
- Manage your own caseload of lease expiry and escalated arrears cases to secure vacant possession and maximise income
- Prepare legal documentation, evidence bundles, and witness statements while representing the organisation in court and mediation
- Advise operational teams on tenancy breaches and risk mitigation strategies to support resident-focused outcomes
- Collaborate with tenancy sustainment and safeguarding teams to ensure legal action aligns with resident engagement principles
- Maintain accurate case records and provide administrative support to the legal team

Essential:
- Proven experience handling possession claims and rent/debt recovery in housing or legal settings
- Strong legal drafting skills with knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules for debt recovery
- Excellent verbal/written communication and prioritisation abilities
- Great prioritisation skills with the ability to work in fast-paced environments
Desirable:
- Proficiency with legal databases
- Ability to build relationships with operational teams and external stakeholders
- Track record of identifying legal risks and proposing mitigations
- Experience within the housing sector, specifically with arrears
