Job Introduction
What you’ll do
We’re looking to recruit a Lift Engineer to support our contract administration team, resident facing staff and contractors to ensure the lifting equipment in our buildings is in good working order and returned to service quickly when a repair is reported.
The Lift Engineer will cover the whole NHG property portfolio, attending our buildings to support the diagnosis of faults and specify solutions working in partnership with our contractors. You can expect to be dealing with passenger lifts in low, medium and high-rise blocks, including our supported and sheltered housing where the lifts are absolutely vital to our residents.
How you’ll do it
Our contractors will carry out the actual repairs, but your skills and experience will be invaluable in making sure complex repairs, or repairs that require multiple trades, get completed quickly and effectively. You’ll build relationships with resident-facing staff and contractors to ensure updates are communicated efficiently and you’ll be an ambassador for NHG while working in our buildings.
The Ideal Candidate
We believe great service starts with great people, and we are committed to recruiting and developing passionate, enthusiastic, and talented individuals who can add value to our thriving organisation. Pending confirmation of legislative changes, this role may require a qualification to demonstrate competence. If not already qualified, there may be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to build on your experience of working on lifting equipment in a residential setting. You’ll be an excellent problem-solver and see things through to their completion, making sure our residents are inconvenienced for as little time as possible.
You’ll share your knowledge and experience with the other Lift Engineer as well as the contract administration staff based in our Kings Cross office. As well as enjoying the practical and technical side of the role, you’ll also be a people person, always remembering that our residents are our priority.
You will have experience installing or maintaining lift installations which you will draw on to assist when diagnosing technical lift issues. You will ensure that the works completed by our contractors offer value for money and that they complete repairs in a timely manner.
You will have either Level 3 NVQ in Installation Commissioning (Lifts) or Level 3 NVQ in Engineering Maintenance (Lifts).
You will work with our LOLER inspectors to ensure that all our assets are inspected on time and that any identified defects are passed to our contractors and resolved prior to their deadline.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a Basic check via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
