Lift Manager

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

Are you a strong manager with a passion for making sure homes and buildings are accessible to the people who live in them? Do you have experience of contractor, stakeholder and resident relationship management? If so, then we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for a Lift Manager to join us in Assets and Sustainability with complementary skillsets – the ability to manage a team of both technical and non-technical staff, build a strong culture of high performance, and ensure both contractors and staff work together to make sure our lifts are compliant and in full working order.

Main Responsibility

You’ll lead a small but dedicated team to deliver safe and reliable lift services by ensuring suppliers are well managed and perform to a high standard. The NHG property portfolio is a varied one, with around 50% of our homes built after 2000, so in many cases will be served by passenger lifts. We have also provided domestic lifts for our residents to help them stay in their own home when their mobility becomes more restricted. For both passenger and domestic lifts, you’ll be accountable for the statutory inspections, planned preventative maintenance programme, repairs performance, and will lead our modernisation and replacement programme. You’ll manage a team of two engineers and two contract officers who between them will manage the contractors responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing our lifts.

In summary, you’ll deliver a service that ensures our 696 passenger lifts and 768 domestic lifts are well maintained, meet statutory, regulatory and corporate standards and you’ll act as the point of contact for escalated enquiries.

The Ideal Candidate

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to build on your experience of managing a team, to support and develop others and build a strong service that responds to residents. Your experience in performance management and building a clear team identity and positive culture will be essential. Your technical experience from working on lifts will ensure that you can work with our contractors, understanding technical issues and can make informed decisions on repairs, as well as acting as an escalation point for our engineers. You will bring experience of managing contractor relationships and building connections with residents, while experience in procurement is useful and you will have a comprehensive understanding of lift services. Resident safety and convenience will be your top priority while making sure that work carried out offers value for money. You'll work alongside operational colleagues to develop the planned investment programme for our lifts.

There are opportunities within Assets and Sustainability to further develop your career in M&E, to learn more about how our business operates and showcase your ability to build relationships in a supportive and vibrant environment.

We believe we work best when we’re together, so you’ll be expected to work from our head office in Kings Cross at least three days a week, as well as visit other locations across our housing tock as necessary to get the job done. A willingness to travel and be flexible is vital.

Benefits

In return we offer:

  • Excellent annual leave allowance and flexible working opportunities (qualifying period may apply)
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay - we offer enhanced maternity and adoption pay in addition to statutory entitlements (qualifying period may apply)
  • Employee assistance - free confidential advice and counselling services provided by independent specialist organisations
  • Health cash plan
  • Staff discounts - we give our staff access to discounts at hundreds of major retailers, gyms, restaurants, entertainment, days out, insurance and much more

  • Life Assurance x 4 annual salary

About the Company

Notting Hill Genesis is now one of the largest housing associations in London and the south east. We own and manage more than 66,000 homes and employ around 2,000 staff. We provide homes across a range of tenures and are committed to continuing to deliver housing that is affordable to all. Our roots reach back to the 1960s when our legacy organisations were established by local people who shared a similar vision – to house west London’s working poor, providing them a home from which to build themselves and their families a secure future.

Our people

We value our people and both respect and celebrate their differences. We’re proud to say that our colleagues come from different backgrounds, with varied outlooks and are from all over the world. We encourage and are committed to diversity. We know that when people with varied experiences and unique points of view come together, it makes us a stronger organisation and more able to help the wide range of residents that we serve. We want all our colleagues to bring their full selves to work in a culture and environment based on respect and fairness, regardless of role, background or ability.

Our pledges

We are proud signatories of the G15 group’s diversity pledge to encourage more diversity in the boardroom and at senior level.  The pledge on Black, Asian and minority ethnic diversity commits NHG to reflect the ethnic diversity of the communities we work in at all levels and particularly at senior managerial, leadership and board levels.

We have under-representation of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic colleagues at this level and are keen to fill this gap. We welcome applications from everyone. For this role, we especially encourage Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates to join us and be part of an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity, equality of opportunity and provides a place for you to grow your career.

We are also a Stonewall Diversity Champion, a Disability Confident employer and have signed up to Harry’s Pledge. We actively monitor the diversity of our workforce and strive to show equal representation throughout all levels of the organisation.
