What You'll Do

As Volunteering and Engagement Officer, you'll play a key role in strengthening the connection between our colleagues, residents and communities. Sitting within the Corporate Affairs function, you'll lead the development and delivery of NHG's colleague volunteering programme and support wider colleague engagement initiatives that bring our values and Residents First approach to life.

This is an exciting opportunity to create meaningful volunteering experiences that have a positive impact on residents and communities while helping colleagues better understand the people we serve. Alongside managing our volunteering programme, you'll support the delivery of colleague engagement activities and events, including our annual colleague conference.

How you'll make a difference

Reporting into the Corporate Affairs team, you'll develop and deliver a volunteering programme that helps NHG become a truly resident-focused organisation. Your work will create opportunities for colleagues to engage directly with residents and communities, building understanding, strengthening relationships and delivering tangible social value.

You'll work across the organisation to identify opportunities where volunteering can make the greatest impact, partnering closely with operational teams, resident engagement colleagues and external organisations. Through your work, you'll help create positive experiences for both residents and colleagues while supporting NHG's wider engagement objectives.

How you'll do it

  • Develop and manage NHG's colleague volunteering programme, ensuring it meets the needs of residents, communities and colleagues.
  • Coordinate volunteering activities, maintaining accurate records and ensuring effective programme administration.
  • Recruit, train and support volunteers and organisers, creating an engaging and rewarding volunteer experience.
  • Build strong relationships with residents, community organisations, local partners and internal stakeholders to identify volunteering opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of volunteering activities, producing regular reports and insight on programme performance.
  • Ensure all volunteering activities are delivered in line with legal, regulatory and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Support the planning and delivery of NHG's annual colleague conference and other colleague engagement events.
  • Contribute to wider colleague engagement programmes and initiatives that support NHG's internal communications and engagement strategy.
  • Develop innovative approaches to volunteering that enhance resident wellbeing and encourage independence.
  • Build and maintain external partnerships that create additional value and opportunities for residents, communities and colleagues.

All About You

Essential

  • Experience of developing and delivering workplace volunteering programmes or community engagement initiatives.
  • Experience building and maintaining strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering programmes or projects that achieve measurable outcomes and business objectives.
  • Experience delivering engaging colleague, community or customer engagement activities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with confidence presenting to a range of audiences.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience monitoring performance and using data and insight to improve outcomes.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn and adopt new systems.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and communities.
  • A passion for creating positive social impact and delivering meaningful outcomes for residents and communities.
