What you’ll do

As a Finance Officer – Service Charge, you will play a key role in supporting the Service Charge Finance team to deliver accurate, efficient, and customer-focused financial services for our residents.

Working closely with the Service Charge Finance Business Partner and operational teams, you will help maintain the integrity of financial data, manage service charge transactions, and support the delivery of clear financial information and documentation related to service charges.

You will also assist in responding to resident queries and complaints, ensuring that requests are handled promptly and professionally, while supporting compliance with relevant legislation and audit requirements.

Through your work, you will help ensure our finance processes operate smoothly and that residents receive transparent and reliable service charge information.

How you’ll do it

  • Work closely with the Service Charge Finance Business Partner and operational teams to provide accurate information relating to service charge transactions.
  • Respond to service charge queries and complaints through the CRM system, allocating them to the appropriate finance colleagues and monitoring response times.
  • Support the preparation of documentation and evidence required for service charge audits and inspections.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of service charge transactions relating to services provided to residents.
  • Provide supporting documentation, such as invoices and transaction details, to Service Charge Finance Business Partners when required.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to provide information for external auditors and respond to audit queries.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation required under Section 22 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 for resident inspection.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and datasets across Excel and internal finance systems.
  • Support the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives within the Service Charge Finance function.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice relating to service charges.

Pending confirmation of legislative changes, this role may require a qualification to demonstrate competence. If not already qualified, there may be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification. 


Essential:

  • Experience working within a busy finance or transactional team, ideally in a customer-focused organisation.
  • Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and the impact of accounting entries.
  • Experience managing workload in a high-volume transactional environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex issues using data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with financial systems (knowledge of D365 is desirable).
  • Working towards an AAT or CCAB-recognised accounting qualification, or willingness to study (study support may be available).
  • A commitment to professional ethics including integrity, confidentiality, and professional behaviour.
