Group Finance Manager (Financial Accounting and Control)

Join us and make an impact

Are you a qualified finance leader who thrives on delivering excellence and driving improvement? This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of financial control at one of London’s leading housing associations.

As our Group Finance Manager (Financial Accounting and Control), you’ll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and compliance of our Group’s financial reporting — while leading a talented team and influencing decision-making at the highest level.

If you’re motivated by making a real difference through your financial expertise, this role offers the perfect blend of challenge, leadership, and purpose.

What you’ll do

You’ll oversee the Group’s statutory reporting, regulatory submissions, and internal control framework, ensuring our financial systems are accurate, compliant, and efficient.

As a senior member of the Financial Reporting and Control team, you’ll be instrumental in driving a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement across NHG’s Finance function.

How you’ll do it

  • Lead and manage the delivery of quarterly, interim, and final audits across Group entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee preparation of statutory accounts and regulatory returns, delivering timely, high-quality outputs.
  • Support the Head of Financial Accounting and Control on all aspects of Group accounting, deputising as needed.
  • Ensure accurate monthly recording and reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
  • Conduct analytical reviews and provide insights on Group performance to senior management and committees.
  • Coordinate the year-end audit timetable, ensuring seamless collaboration across teams.
  • Stay abreast of technical accounting developments and implement required changes.
  • Build strong relationships across Finance and other departments to strengthen processes and controls.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop your team to achieve excellence and professional growth.

The ideal candidate

You’ll be a confident, collaborative finance leader with a passion for accuracy, innovation, and developing people.

Essential:

  • Fully qualified CCAB accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, or equivalent) with evidence of ongoing CPD.
  • Extensive experience preparing statutory accounts (ideally at Group level) and leading audits.
  • Strong understanding of financial control frameworks and accounting standards.
  • Proven experience managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient in Excel; knowledge of Sun, D365, and Power BI desirable.

You will live our values and bring them to life through your work:

  • Progressive – striving for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Dependable – consistently delivering high-quality, reliable outcomes.
  • Inclusive – valuing diversity and collaboration across all teams.
  • Empowered – enabling others to achieve their best.

What’s in it for you?

Benefits include:

  • Generous pension scheme
