What you’ll do

As the Head of Asset Business Partnering, you will lead the financial management and business partnering functions that support our Assets and Sustainability teams. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will ensure that our investment, compliance, and safety programmes are effectively governed, financially robust, and deliver maximum value to residents and the organisation.

You’ll oversee the financial insight and controls for the Group Building Safety Programme, lead the financial planning and reporting on investment in existing homes, and ensure accurate project accounting across all asset activities.

As a key member of the Finance senior leadership team, you’ll drive excellence, continuous improvement, and a culture of customer focus in everything we do.

How you’ll do it

  • Lead the business partnering service for all asset investment and compliance activity across NHG’s existing homes portfolio.
  • Oversee and provide assurance on all financial aspects of the Building Safety Programme, ensuring accurate project accounting and performance reporting.
  • Deliver insightful, value-adding financial analysis and reporting that supports the delivery of the Asset Strategy.
  • Manage end-to-end financial involvement in capital and revenue projects, ensuring robust appraisal, budgeting, and post-project review.
  • Produce timely and accurate reports to the Executive Team and Group Board, supporting effective decision-making.
  • Provide expert guidance on financial risks and opportunities, maintaining strong relationships across Finance, Asset Management, and external partners.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices, embedding continuous improvement within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a high-performing finance partnering team dedicated to supporting Asset Management and Sustainability functions.
  • Ensure effective planning, monitoring, and control of budgets, investments, and projects within the asset portfolio.
  • Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders to ensure investment decisions align with NHG’s strategic priorities and financial objectives.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and systems that support transparency, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate information for statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with financial standards and reporting requirements.
  • Drive innovation and value for money across the organisation through data-driven insights and business partnering excellence.
  • Represent Finance at internal and external meetings, contributing to strategic discussions and operational decision-making.

Essential:

  • Fully qualified CCAB accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, or equivalent) with evidence of ongoing CPD.
  • Proven experience in financial leadership and business partnering within a complex organisation.
  • Expertise in project appraisal tools such as Pamwin, and deep understanding of financial modelling and investment analysis.
  • Demonstrable experience in risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels.
  • Experience of leading teams, developing talent, and embedding a culture of empowerment and accountability.
  • Capability for strategic thinking, analytical problem-solving, and delivering actionable insights.
