The Learning Specialist plays a key role in this ambition. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys creating high‑quality learning content, working collaboratively with others and helping ensure colleagues have access to clear, practical and engaging learning.
What the role is all about
As a Learning Specialist, reporting to the Learning Design & Systems Manager, you’ll support the creation, updating and coordination of learning content that builds capability across NHG.
You’ll develop and update learning materials across digital, face‑to‑face and intranet formats, working closely with colleagues across People Development and operational subject‑matter experts to ensure content is accurate, accessible and aligned with NHG’s values, compliance needs and service expectations.
You’ll also support the coordination of outsourced learning development, working with external providers to help deliver high‑quality learning content that is scalable, sustainable and ready for use across the organisation.
How you’ll make a difference
You’ll help ensure colleagues across NHG have access to learning that is clear, practical and up to date by:
- Creating and updating learning materials that support performance,complianceand development
- Helpingmaintaina consistent, high‑quality learning offer across digital, face‑to‑face and intranet channels
- Supporting outsourced learning projects so content is delivered to agreed standards and timescales
- Working with People Development colleagues and operational experts to ensure learning reflects real‑world practice
- Supporting a positive, accessible learning experience that helps colleagues feel confident and capable
Your contribution will be seen through accurate, engaging learning content and a learning offer that supports confident performance and great resident‑focused outcomes.
How you’ll do it
You’ll work collaboratively across People Development and with operational colleagues to support high‑quality learning content. This includes:
- Creating and updating learning materials such as slide decks, facilitator guides, workbooks,toolkitsand digital resources
- Working closely with the Learning Experience Designer to prepare storyboards, supporting assets andmaintaindesign consistency
- Developing simple digital learning content and updating existing modules under guidance
- Maintaining learning content on intranet pages and learning libraries so materialsremainaccurateand easy to access
- Coordinating outsourced learning development, acting as a day‑to‑day contact for suppliers and supporting quality review
- Reviewing draft content from suppliers to ensure accuracy,accessibilityand alignment with NHG standards
- Supporting quality assurance, version control and content governance
- Working with the Learning Systems Specialist to ensure digital learning is structured and ready for LMS deployment
- You’llsupport the Learning Design & Systems Manager with prioritisation and coordination, helping the team deliver learning efficiently and to a high standard.
All about you
Essential
- Experience creating or updating learning content across digital, face‑to‑face or intranet formats
- Confidence using tools such as PowerPoint, Articulate Rise, Canva or similar platforms to produce clear learning materials
- Experience supporting or coordinating outsourced learning development or working with external suppliers
- Understanding of basic instructional design principles and accessibility requirements
- Strong organisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
- A collaborative, proactive approach and commitment to inclusive practice and positive colleague experience
- Relevant experience in learning support, content development, digitallearningor a related field
- Learning design or digital learning qualifications are desirable but not essential.
